What is cognitive behavioural therapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) describes a number of therapies that all have a similar approach to solving problems - these can range from sleeping difficulties or relationship problems, to anxiety and depression. CBT works by changing people's attitudes and their behaviour. The therapies focus on the thoughts, images, beliefs and attitudes that we hold (our cognitive processes) and how this relates to the way we behave, as a way of dealing with emotional problems.
An important advantage of CBT is that it tends to be short, taking three to six months for most emotional problems. During this time, Sophie Cresswell at Cognitive behavioural therapy… will work with you to understand what the problems are and to develop new strategies for tackling them. CBT introduces you to a set of principles that you can apply whenever you need to, and which will stand you in good stead throughout your life. It literally gives you a theraputic toolbox that you can use whenever the need arises.
Hypno-Psychotherapy and CBT are perfect partners that help you to look at how your thoughts can create feelings and mood and enable you to explore the relationship between your problems, your behaviour and your thoughts. Hypnosis helps the process of looking at past behaviours and thinking patterns and suggesting new improved patterns to replace them.
